Why Not Granulate - Plastics Recycling in the 21st Century
Plastics/PET
Among our long-standing clients is one of the largest PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) processing firms in the northeast. Historically, PET plastic was shipped to processors in bales, and the processors ground, washed, and pelletized the material. But with technology and market changes, PET material started to be collected in a shredded form. In order to handle shredded plastic, a new grinding process was required before it could be washed and pelletized. Our client initially tried to grind the shredded plastic themselves. But they were not able to process the plastic as rapidly as they needed it, which resulted in production flow problems.
We stepped in and demonstrated that Hudson Baylor could grind the shredded plastic more efficiently. We were already shipping them ground plastic. They simply redirected some of the material they collected to be ground at our facilities, and we shipped them the ground product. We saved our client money and time, while providing them with a more useable commodity.
